Technical Tips

  • When the product reaches the customer, Rubfila's team of sales and technical service staff are there to provide advice on the care of our threads to make the most of their durable qualities. While handling and storing rubber threads, it is important to note some precautions so as to avoid wastage.
  • Place the carton box upright always (as indicated in the carton box) during storage. Gentle handling of the carton box is recommended during unloading or storage. Mishandling can cause serious damage to the box and entanglements within the box
  • Fine count threads (55 and above) and few threads per ribbon (8 ends) must be handled with extreme care to avoid unnecessary entanglements within the carton. Rejects and low quality products can be minimized if these threads are handled with care.
  • It is advised that the threads be stored at room temperature (16 - 30 Deg C). By not doing so, variation in physical properties like discoloration, anti-oxidant removal is likely to occur. The area must be provided with adequate ventilation and kept clean, dry and free of heat and ozone generating equipment.
  • Lighting to storage area may be provided with the use of low energy consuming fluorescent lamps (low head dissipation) instead of incandescent lamps (high head dissipation). Thus, heat dissipation due to lighting could be considerably reduced.
  • Exposure to direct sunlight must be avoided to prevent U-V light attack. U-V light causes extensive damage to the physical properties. Moreover with the accelerated depletion of ozone layer in the atmosphere recently, more than normal penetration of U-V light is observed. Hence the cartons should only be opened when required and kept closed at all other times.
  • Rubber threads wound on cones/ spools are susceptible to attack due to light and ozone. Nevertheless, this problem could be overcome by providing a black cover.

Guidelines to usage of Rubfila Threads:

It is often desired that rubber threads of prolonged storage (old batch) do not mix with the new arrival (new batch). This will help immensely in processing and avoid untenable process complications. Added to that, uniformity in physical properties of the finished products (elongation / modulus etc.) can be achieved.Be sure not to leave rubber threads exposed and under tension in the process machines ( Braiding, Covering, Crochet ) when not in operation. Prolonged tension of rubber threads creates a significant setback in the physical properties. When the production is suspended due to any reasons, remove the threads to prevent breakage during the next startup. Regular maintenance of the equipment making use of the rubber threads is mandatory; otherwise breaking of threads will be encountered in processing. Talcum accumulation should be avoided and failure to do so would result in frequent suspension of production products.

Precautions Against Discoloring / Yellow staining :

  • Avoid contact with copper
  • Avoid usage of starch / oil substances as lubricants.
  • Avoid excessive use of bleaches.
  • Avoid unnecessary exposure to dry heat.
  • Remove organic impurities present in natural fibers.
  • Avoid cationic type textile softeners to prevent the removal of anti oxidant and content into the textile.
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to heat.
